Dear TYWLS Middle School Families and Students,
Welcome back! We hope you have had a safe and enjoyable summer. As we get back to planning what the upcoming school year will look like, we know there are many uncertainties and difficult decisions to be made. Regardless of the outcomes, we want you to know that Girls Inc. will be here to support our community the best that we can.
We hope you will join us this year, as we are so excited to see all of our incredible participants, New and Old flourish within our program whether in person or remote. If you would like to secure a slot for your child, we highly recommended that you submit an enrollment form at your earliest convenience. Girls Inc. Applications Deadline: Wednesday, September 23rd 2020 by 6:00 pm. Important update- Please Read
We have been granted approval to conduct in person programming for TYWLS of Astoria starting September 29th from 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm.
As it stands, TYWLS of Astoria will follow Model 2 for reopening. Model 2 consists of three alternating cohorts (Team gold, Team Blue, & Team Green) for in person learning. We have been approved to take 22 participants from each of these cohorts (first come, first serve basis)for in-person Programming, only on the day the school has assigned students within their cohort. We will continue to communicate what our program will look like within the upcoming weeks. Yet If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Jazmin@girlsincnyc.org. We look forward to hearing from you and hope you take the time to review our program Safety Plan attached to the email below.
Starting next week, Monday, September 14th - Friday, September 25th from 3:00 PM - 5:00 we will provide remote programming for our new Middle school participants. Students and families are welcome to join us virtually on Monday for an orientation from 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm. Please reference our Schedule below. Note you must currently be enrolled in our program to access our zoom Link with password. We will send a follow up email containing links and passcodes to only families who have enrolled for this current school year.

---> May need to put in a password, which will be included in the email provided
Once Logged on…
----> Make sure you click “Join Audio through Internet”
----> Make sure you are muted unless you would like to speak to the group
Zoom Tips and Tricks
----> We always encourage you to use your microphone when possible, however if unable to do so, or if you would like to share something without interrupting the speaker, you can use the Chat Box
-----> You can click on “Reactions” to Raise Hand, signal Thumbs Up/Down, or Clap
----> When we breakout into smaller groups, you will receive a notification to “Join Breakout Room”
----> Once you’ve clicked this link, you will be taken to a separate window with your smaller group! This may take a second so just wait as it loads and do not exit any windows manually.
---> You may need to click “Join Audio through Internet” again to get the sound back in the Breakout Room
---> If you need to return to the Main Room at any time, just click Leave Breakout Room and it will take you back.
---> If you click Leave Meeting, you will leave the Zoom meeting all together
